BEP 126 – Solving Problems

In this lesson from the new edition of our English for Meetings e-Book and app, we look at how to structure and participate in a successful problem solving meeting.

One of the most common reasons for holding a meeting is to solve a problem. But, while we might have the right people at the meeting, the process is often flawed because one question hasn’t clearly been asked and answered: “What is the problem?” So, in this lesson we’re going to focus on how to define the problem through discussion and then restate the problem as a challenge.

    Dear Sir ,

I found your lessons very interesting for teachers and learners of English as well. I trust that you will go on helping us in this way.

I would like to know more, free of charge during this week of my trial.

If I have requested to sell me any material during this period of trial, please excuse me for that error. In my understanding, I thought that I would first try or have a look at the material before I can make up my mind to order some of it.

    Yours sincerely,

    Corneille Tshibanda.

Please excuse me for any errors which I left uncorrected in my text. I simply wanted to know what I can do, free of charge, during this period of trial.
    Thanks.

Your IP address indicates you are based in Mainland China. We use a feed distribution service (as do 99% of all podcasts) called FeedBurner to make our feed compatible with the widest number of feed readers and browsers. Occasionally, Feedburner is unavailable in China.

However, sometime ago we set up a special feed just for users in China. This uses a local Chinese server to distribute the feed and guarantee availability in China. You can find out more information on this service on this page:

  10. Your site is indeed terrific. I’ve visited and signed-up as a member in couple of websites which offer free English on-line course however they are lacking on substance. Your’s is totally different because I can focus on one particular subject.
I’m a salesman, so I’ve been concentrating on subjects which are related to sales, presentation and negatiotion.

    Keep up the good work!

  12. This site is wonderful. Thanks for all your efforsts :).
It’s still in my trial, but,I’m considering to subscribe to the premium membership afterwards.
However, i’m wodering if the trail membership could enjoy all the services as the premium one? If so, Why couldn’t I download ‘study notes’ and ‘phrase podcast’of some podcasts, and online exercises of others (EX.BEP 77 45 44.)If this is caused by my Chinese I.P. address , I’m worring that if part of the services would be still limited to me in my premium membership? Ur early reply would be appreciated!

  13. @ Jamie
The free trial allows access to a limited number of podcasts and resources. This includes the specific trial podcasts on the sample pages and online activities from BEP 86 and above (so BEP 44, 77 etc. are not accessible on the trial).

Premium Members have access to ALL recourses (inc. eBooks) published by BEP. So you will be able to access any PDF, phrasecast or quiz once you are a member.

We have a growing number of members in China and do not know of any issues accessing the site and premium content. Only the main RSS feed is not accessible, but we have a duplicate copy of this feed set up for users in China (see here for more info: https://www.businessenglishpod.com/about/china/).
